RED CROSS-SERVING HUMANITY SINCE 150+ YEARS

It’s celebration time, the entire world marks May 8, as World Red Cross and Crescent Movement Day to honor the founder Henri Dunant born on the same day in 1928.

The world’s leading non-government, non-profit, non-political and non-religious humanitarian organization is serving humankind through helping, educating and uplifting those who are in desperate need of assistance thereby, empowering young service oriented people around the world to join hands together for a noble cause.

On this promising day, It’s time to recall the services rendered by volunteers of Red Cross Organization.

20-22 January 2016, BLIZZARD was creating Havoc, Atlantic and Northeast United States were under chaos. Millions of people got affected by three feet deep snow which left them with slippery pavements, disrupted transport system, crippled train network, treacherous roads and canceled flights.

Reports of 35 fatalities due to Ice-Snow covered roads went into records. Hundreds of accidents, resulting in death and injuries occurred. Mortality rate further increased due to carbon monoxide poisoning and heart attacks suffered while shoveling snow.

A team of Red Cross Volunteers rushed to the aid, spontaneously assisting needy people by all means they can.

The whole scenario changed instantly!

The unparalleled humanitarian work done by them contains clearing pathways of snow, digging out cars, reconnecting people with their families in the US or overseas, providing foodstuff, shelter, and medical assistance to the injured and much more.

Normalcy got restored courtesy Red Cross, and residents bounced back to regular activities in no time. It won’t be their last show, in the past 150+ years, they did this many times and will continue to do so.

Internal atmosphere of the organization is more than serene. One has to experience it in person. Explaining it in words might be herculean. Volunteers are trained, groomed and taken care of with love.

Annually, the Heroes of Red Cross who contribute relentlessly on life protection with an inspirational leadership are recognized and awarded.

While celebrations mean Greetings, flowers, chocolates and fun in this materialistic world, contrarily, Red Cross day is celebrated by arranging blood donation camps in various towns, schools, and colleges to encourage locals for donating blood voluntarily.

The contribution of Red Cross to our society and humankind is a well-known fact. There are numerous examples on the world wide web explaining miraculous escape from death due to the timely assistance of Red Cross volunteers.

On the occasion of Red Cross Day, Red Cross officials and volunteers assemble and campaign door to door creating awareness towards humanitarian services, motivating donors to participate in fundraising activities, and encourage youngsters to join as volunteers for humanitarian services rendered by Red Cross.

Every moment, spent by the Red Cross is dedicated to serving the community and extend their helping hand for supporting the destitute.

The Red Cross aims to provide compassionate care to the needy people. Their network contains generous donors, volunteers, and educators who share the mission of preventing and relieving Suffering, that exists around the world.
